The minima project
About six months ago, i started working full-time at Minimal Medias as their main web developer. We mainly work with WordPress since it’s one of the fastest CMS to learn for a lot of our clients who easily become empowered to update their websites on their own. My WP skills haven’t stopped going up and up for the last months and it won’t stop anytime soon. There is so much to learn in this fantastic (and free) framework.
You can guess that i developed a couple of websites since i started working for them, and i started to think i was loosing a lot of time for each new website. Start from scratch or start with the included TwentyEleven theme. The first solution is a lot of work getting everything to work. But the latter was also a lot of work, stripping out theme options that won’t be needed.
After thinking about it, and looking at other solutions, i decided to build my own base theme, aimed at speeding up custom theme development. But the rhythm at work wasn’t slowing down to allow me to work on it. So i took the matter in my own hands, and started working on it during my spare time at home.
The project is now shaping up and should be ready for beta 1 in a couple of weeks. I already used it at work on 2 projects. One of which had a turnaround of two days so it would be ready for the weekend, and it was. Go ahead and take a look at the WOD sports project (a very nice website).
Stay tuned for more info about the development and to get a glimpse on my wishlist for what i would like to be the ultimate WordPress tool for you. I already know it will for me!
